Mystico in Panama will be a delight for those wanting to find the perfect Mexican restaurant. It has a unique atmosphere and decor with a wide variety of entrees at very reasonable prices.
Climbing up a steep set of stairs, this unique entrance may not be for those who have mobility issues. If you can, however, get beyond the stairs, you enter a small but magical establishment.
We were greeted by a very friendly lady who allowed us to sit at a large table in one of the many rooms.
The restaurant has many rooms allowing patrons to have privacy if needed. You need to go beyond the main room and peek into the many corners. Each room has its own delights.
The menu offered a variety of entrees and appetizers. The pricing was extremely reasonable and the portions (at least for what we ordered) were substantial.
As you can see from the photos, each room had interesting themes and colours with many objects helping to make the decor much more interesting than many establishments.
Now setting decor aside, the trend of ‘instagramable’ decor but with lousy food is not what you are going to experience here. Many eateries in Ontario could take a lesson from Mystico and learn that diners want good food while basking in a unique experience.
Starting with a potent strawberry margarita, our entrees were reasonably priced and large in size.
I ordered a beef burrito which was tasty and more than enough to share.
Although Panama has its fair share of expensive restaurants, it is gems like this one that make you realize you can have a wonderful dining experience at a fraction of the price.
